Building a Daily Rhythm of Prayer
Prayer is something most of us believe in to a degree but usually feel guilty about. We are invited to pray but do we ?. Prayer is in many peoples experience full of good intentions but difficult to practice regularly. In today’s whirlwind of life, our first excuse is there isn’t time or it is simply overtaken by other events. While some of us may feel prayer is a struggle for other reasons, it is the lack of a habit of prayer that is the most common problem. While other “essentials” of life have become habitual, finding a place and pattern in our lifestyle, we haven’t found a way to make prayer one of those “essentials”.
It is our desire at Cove church to mobilise people in prayer and to do this by inviting people to share in a daily rhythm of prayer through the working week.
We are inviting you to join in a pattern of daily prayer that you can make your own, where-ever you live and work.
It has a simple threefold structure
Morning - UP, Praying our relationship to God Midday - OUT, Praying our relationship with the world around us Evening – IN, Praying our relationship with those we share community with
We invite you to consider making this a pattern where to begin with you take 5 minutes at each point of the day, morning, midday (approx) and evening to pray this UP, OUT and IN pattern.
You know best what times and where you might find those 5 minutes. Some people may choose to bring all three moments into one session of prayer, but we encourage people to try the threefold structure over the day to begin with. |
